Welcome! Let’s hit the road together.

Now that I’ve forwarded this site to pretty much everyone I know I’m expecting all sorts of traffic.  Don’t let me down folks.  Seriously, I hope you all enjoy this window into my life and what I’m doing.  I’m really excited about those futuristic Japanese toilets I keep hearing about… Ok – that was random.  Since I promised some shout-outs, I want to say a specific hello to my Advisory group (Gretel – I dare you to smile, Miosoty – be good, Altagracia – less mayhem, Yudith – stop talking so much [as if - lol], and Jay – keep that table ON the floor).  I promise more name droping, so keep tuning in.  To my Hunter friends – thanks for being so supportive and encouraging - the same for the great DY Prep staff… for everyone else – you’re wonderful and I wouldn’t be doing this without knowing that you had my back.  (Bari – sorry I didn’t get a chance to talk to you before I left).  Next post from Japan…

Update…

September 27, 2006 at 10:34 pm (Uncategorized)

The package has arrived!  I fly out this Sunday morning at 8:00 AM – which means a nice and early 5:00 AM wake up.  Yikes.  It’s hard to believe the trip is finally almost here… it seems like I’ve been waiting for this forever (nearly three years since I first found out about the program).  I heard from my host family – the Tanakas.  Mom, dad & 2 kids (10 and 13).  When I meet them I’ll be sure to put up pictures.  I’m going to post one more time before I leave – look for shout outs to the great students of DY Prep (and that includes Cohort A).   :)   Keep thinking of that song – Leaving on a Jet Plane… all my bags are (almost) packed…

The Auditorium in Soka

The Soka Auditorium  I’ll be staying in Soka, Saitama Prefecture for part of my trip in Japan.  It’s where I’ll be doing my homestay visit.  This picture is a sneak preview (and a way for me to see if I can post pictures).

On The Road To Japan

September 17, 2006 at 1:33 am (Uncategorized)

Welcome to my blog!  This is the first time I’ve tried one of these, so bear with me.  The purpose of this is for everyone who wants to track my travels in Japan – as part of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund program – to be able to do so.  I’m hoping for daily updates, as well as picture and video uploads (if I can figure that out).  So – if you’re my friend, my colleague, one of my students, or some random stranger who hit some link on Google… come on in and enjoy the adventure with me.
